New York Restaurant Week 2019: La Sirène

(Once again, I am the worst because I’m posting a 2019 Restaurant Week post, as we are preparing to enter into 2020 Restaurant Week season.. sigh!)

This year for Restaurant Week, my friends and I decided on La Sirène, a quaint little French restaurant in SoHo. The restaurant is very, very small. The entire dining area probably can seat only 30 patrons. The decor is dim (read: you will need a flashlight to read your menu), but warm. I personally love French cuisine, so I was really excited to try this place.

For the appetizer, I got French Onion Soup (I definitely should have gotten something less #basic. Believe it or not, as simple as this dish sounds, a lot can go wrong.) The soup here was fine - hearty and a little bit salty, but nothing special. One of my friends ordered a mushroom ravioli appetizer served in a cute little coquette. I didn’t get to try it, but if I come back, I will be sure to expand beyond ‘French Onion Soup’ for my starter. For the entree, I got Hanger Steak. This was pretty tender and flavorful. Two of my friends got the rabbit (tastes like salty chicken), and one of my friends got the salmon (surprisingly cooked perfectly!) For dessert, I got the profiteroles (kind of like cream puffs, but so much better), which were delicious.

All in all, it was a good meal, and a lovely place to wine and dine with friends! L’addition, s’il vous plaît!
