Tokyo
I was lucky enough to visit Japan with two of my good friends from college last Fall. It was my first time in Japan, so we spent a good week exploring and eating our way through Tokyo.
Our Airbnb was located in Ginza, one of the more “upscale” neighborhoods in the city. Ginza is very safe, super walk-able, and has many dining and shopping options. My flight landed in Tokyo in the late afternoon, so after arriving at the Airbnb and dropping off my stuff, we headed out and began to explore.
Quick Tips:
Purchase a Pocket WiFi or buy a Japanese SIM card
Purchase a refillable Smart Card, like PASMO, to use on transportation and at convenience stores (for those tuna onigiri @ 7Eleven!)
Don’t get caught in tourist traps! Many hole-in-the-wall joints where locals go (like this cool ramen spot we found) actually serve more authentic food without the overly inflated prices!
