Greenwich

This has been a LONG time coming and a super belated post (a whole year later!) However, I am committed to catching up on posting this summer and my motivation has been reignited! For our mini-moon (primarily due to COVID circumstances), we decided to spend a few days in Greenwich, CT. Over those few days, we mostly did some of our favorite things: eat, shop, and explore. Greenwich is NOT a tourist town, and probably not on Top 10 Most Glamorous Honeymoon Destinations, but we were perfectly happy just have a small local getaway together after all that planning! (& in anticipation of our mega-moon, coming at a later date!)

Day 1

  • Drove East to Greenwich, CT.

  • Dropped off our stuff at hotel (Delamar Greenwich Harbor)

  • Dinner @ Saltaire Oyster Bar and Fish House in Port Chester, NY (it’s technically in New York, but only a 10-15 minute drive from the hotel!)

  • Post-dinner walk around the port

Day 2

  • Breakfast in our hotel room, I think?

  • Lunch @ Le Fat Poodle. I’m so glad I found this brunch place on Yelp. We chose outdoor seating and immediately ordered a latte and espresso martini. We started with oysters, and munched on a tuna melt and crab cake.

  • Exploring up and down Greenwich Avenue (reminds me of Champs-Elysées on a smaller scale)

  • Dinner at our hotel’s restaurant L’Escale to re-celebrate my new hubby’s 30th birthday! Not sure I would recommend this place to tourists. The plates were super small and expensive, and we’ve definitely had better seafood elsewhere. However, if you are staying at the Delamar and want to not travel far for dinner, come downstairs!

Day 3

  • Check-out of the hotel

  • Afternoon tea @ The Drawing Room (super cute and quaint afternoon tea place AND boutique shop). The server/barista was so hospitable and friendly - he was knowledgeable about all the teas and homemade pastries and we had a wonderful time!

  • Visited the Maritime Aquarium @ Norwalk

Fun fact: We ate raw oysters for every meal while we were here! (With the exception of dessert, of course.) Before I met Tim, I never liked oysters at all. Perhaps due to Luckily, I gave them another chance at Saltaire, and they were so delicious!
