Dalgona Coffee
I don’t normally attempt making the trendy Instagram foods, but on this lovely sunny day in quarantine, with work being busier than usual lately, I needed an extra caffeine boost! (This was only my second cup of the day, I swear!) I personally like drinking coffee-flavored milk, if you know what I mean - so I like that this recipe is basically a coffee cloud on top of a glass of milk.
I gave the KitchenAid a break today, and decided to hand-whisk the coffee since I was making just one cup. My arms are very sore, but I suppose I needed some exercise LOL. For my first time, it came out really well. It’s sweet, refreshing, and creamy! It tastes just like a normal iced latté from the cafés we used to frequent (cries), that you wouldn’t think that it came from instant coffee. It’s really easy and fun to make and super artisanal. ~
Ingredients:
1 tsp. instant coffee (I used the Nescafé Taster’s Choice instant coffee)
1 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. hot water
1 cup of cold milk
Directions:
Combine instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in a small mixing bowl. The water doesn’t need to be boiling hot, but the warmer the water, the easier the instant coffee can be mixed. The proportions of sugar to instant coffee should be 1:1, and hot water to coffee is 2:1.
Use either a whisk or mixer to whip the mixture until fluffy and frothy. You’ll notice the color gradually get lighter as well.
In a glass, pour milk and ice. Plop the coffee mixture on top of the milk, and mix well.
