June 2020 Empties!
As a reward to myself for finishing up older skincare products, I restocked on my favorite Drunk Elephant products again this month. I also decided to try their award-winning T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial™, a AHA/BHA exfoliating at-home facial (review coming soon!). So you know what that means… a new batch of empties this month!
This is probably the only brand of micellar water I will ever use. This is a French pharmacy cult-favorite product, and for good reason. It’s super gentle, yet effective at removing makeup and cleansing without drying out skin. After I finished this bottle, I bought two more with the new pump dispenser! From the outside, micellar water doesn’t look like it does much, but the little micelles work very hard to pull all traces of dirt, oil, and makeup off the skin. You just need to soak up a cotton pad, let it do its magic for a few seconds, and gently wipe. You don’t even need to rinse anything off! Even with water-proof mascara or heavier eye makeup, this works!
I usually use this right before I wash my face with my Luna Foreo, but sometimes I will swipe my face with some Bioderma in the afternoons if I’m feeling sweaty or oily. Today, I was poking around on the Bioderma website, and I may try the Hydrabio (targeted for dehydrated and sensitive skin) line next!
I actually got this clear lotion in the PITERA™ First Experience Kit I spoke about in April’s post. I wish I observed more carefully the after-effects of using this, but I’m sure it’s more effective when used with the entire SK-II regimen. I thought it had a pleasant, “clean” scent and made my skin feel plump, but I didn’t notice much else difference. I normally don’t like using lotions that are watery, so I probably would not purchase this on its own.
I like that this sunscreen is lightweight and not greasy. However, it does come out watery and dries matte. Because it is a physical sunscreen, it does also leave a white cast. I don’t really mind too much, since I prefer when my skin is more fair. I wouldn’t recommend this to people with darker complexions as it may become grey or ash-y looking.
Wearing sunscreen every day is SO important, even if you aren’t going out directly into the sun. I can’t stress that enough. Wear SPF every single day, guys! As I might have mentioned before, the sunscreen that I had used religiously since college from The Face Shop was discontinued, and I’m still on the search for a new favorite. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to come across one like it yet. It was an oil-free light cream with tea tree oil in it. It had a slight whitening effect, which I loved because it was never ashy, but gave my skin a dewy glow. If you have any recommendations, please let me know!
